Early Intervention Orthodontics Available

If your child’s teeth seem to be growing in crookedly, they may have what is called a crossbite, where some teeth are caught behind others, or other similar issues. We can provide phase one early intervention orthodontics. An expander, fixed appliance or headgear can be prescribed for your child. It will prevent the necessity of extractions later before they go into the second phase of orthodontic treatment, which is usually braces.

By doing early intervention orthodontics, your child won’t have to wait until their teen years to address their teeth, when it may be too late to make corrections.

Frequently Asked Questions about Orthodontics

At what age can you start with orthodontics?

The average age for beginning orthodontic treatment is 13-14 years old. It may be appropriate, however, for those as young as 10. Adults can also have orthodontics. Your treatment times may be a bit longer because your teeth are more set into their position, but you can certainly still make the shifts you desire.

How do you know if my child might need orthodontics?

When we see your child for a routine checkup, we’ll check for the early signs that they may require orthodontic treatment. If so, we’ll alert you and discuss your options so that you can avoid more expensive treatment in the future.

What are the advantages of choosing traditional braces?

Other options, such as Invisalign®, have a limit of what they can do. Traditional braces give excellent results for nearly any tooth problem and have a more reasonable price tag. The movement of your teeth is more predictable with braces, too, so that you’ll know exactly what can be achieved.
