Who should wear a mouth guard?
According to the Australian Dental Association, a custom-fitted mouthguard can be crucial to safeguard your teeth during sport.
Kids and adults who are active in sport should consider a mouthguard. Some of the most common activities that necessitate them include cricket, football, boxing, rugby and water polo. If you wonder whether you can benefit from one, contact our team and we’ll be happy to discuss it with you.
What to Expect in Getting a Mouthguard
You’ll need just a single appointment to get your mouthguard created. When you come in, we’ll take impressions of your teeth. These impressions are sent to our laboratory where your mouthguard is fabricated.
The thickness of your mouthguard will be determined by the level of protection you require. They can be made in a single, dual or triple layer depending on the sport you participate in. Your mouthguard will be full-coverage, making sure that it goes over your teeth.
When your mouthguard is completed, the laboratory will send it back to My Dental Moments. You’ll pick it up and get our full instructions on how to properly care for it.
Our Local Laboratory
Our professionally made mouthguards aren’t like the kits you can buy at the chemist. Those kits will result in a mouthguard that is too bulky and doesn’t allow you to speak normally. Because it isn’t professionally fitted, you won’t have the same level of protection.
Our mouthguards are created just around the corner from our practice. The time to get it back will be just 3-5 days. You’ll also receive a protective box to store your mouthguard in.
COVERED BY MOST HEALTH FUNDS
The majority of health funds cover a no-gap mouthguard. We accept health funds and are providers for Bupa and Medibank. Contact our friendly team today to schedule your consultation for a mouthguard! We have same-day visits available and a car park located on-site for your convenience.
"Mouthguards protect your teeth during sporting activities and when fitted correctly, are very comfortable."
