Dental Extractions

Why Teeth Extractions Are Necessary

Our conservative approach to dental care at My Dental Moments means that we preserve your natural teeth whenever possible. There may be other solutions to addressing your problem such as having a root canal treatment. After we examine you, we can determine which is the most appropriate solution for your situation. An extraction may be advised in the case of severe tooth decay, advanced gum disease or teeth that are broken and worn down if they cannot be restored through other means.

When Wisdom Teeth Become a Concern

If you have a teenager, they’re likely having their wisdom teeth start to grow in. These back teeth may erupt without any problem. In most cases, however, they can become impacted and unable to grow in due to a lack of space in the mouth. Wisdom teeth, if left as is, can cause tooth decay, pain and gum infections. They can also cause the rest of your teeth to become crowded, which can change the appearance of your entire smile.

We can perform surgery to remove your wisdom teeth. With our years of experience, it’s a routine procedure carried out in our clinic.

What to Expect During an Extraction

Once you have decided to proceed with your extraction, we’ll make sure to administer pain management measures that keep you comfortable. We’ll only begin once you agree that you’re ready. If needed, we can retract the gums, which is usually necessary to extract wisdom teeth. We’ll take the tooth out and apply stitches if required.

We’ll advise you on the necessary aftercare measures so that you recover quickly. You’ll return a week later to have your stitches removed. We’ll keep your extraction efficient thanks to our experience in this area.

Extractions & Wisdom Teeth

"Where possible, we prefer to save your tooth rather than extract it. But sometimes it's necessary, such as an impacted wisdom tooth."
