Custom Mouthguards at My Dental Moments

All across Australia, people of all ages are participating in sport. Being active and enjoying yourself is fantastic, but it’s important to consider the ways that you can prevent being injured. If you or your child participate in a contact sport, you should wear a protective sports mouthguard to make sure that you won’t get hurt. It protects your head, jaw, teeth, gums and cheeks from trauma, which can occur when you least expect it.

Who Should Wear a Mouthguard?

Woman inserting mouthguardAccording to the Australian Dental Association, a custom-fitted mouthguard can be crucial to safeguard your teeth during sport.

Kids and adults who are active in sport should consider a mouthguard. Some of the most common activities that necessitate them include cricket, football, boxing, rugby and water polo. If you wonder whether you can benefit for one, contact our team and we’ll be happy to discuss it with you.

What to Expect in Getting a Mouthguard

You’ll need just a single appointment to get your mouthguard created. When you come in, we’ll take impressions of your teeth. These impressions are sent to our laboratory where your mouthguard is fabricated.

The thickness of your mouthguard will be determined by the level of protection you require. They can be made in a single, dual or triple layer depending on the sport you participate in. Your mouthguard will be full-coverage, making sure that it goes over your teeth.

When your mouthguard is completed, the laboratory will send it back to My Dental Moments. You’ll pick it up and get our full instructions on how to properly care for it.

A Quick Process at Our Local Laboratory

Our professionally made mouthguards aren’t like the kits you can buy at the chemist. Those kits will result in a mouthguard that is too bulky and doesn’t allow you to speak normally. Because it isn’t professionally fitted, you won’t have the same level of protection.

Our mouthguards West Ryde are created just around the corner from our practice. The time to get it back will be just 3-5 days. You’ll also receive a protective box to store your mouthguard in.
