Dental Crowns

Who Needs a Dental Crown?

There are several situations that can be addressed with a dental crown:

  • Cracked teeth

  • Decayed teeth

  • Eroded or worn-down teeth

  • Teeth with a large filling

  • After having a dental implant placed

  • Severe discolouration

  • Malformed teeth

A crown looks like the shell of a natural tooth. It fits seamlessly over a tooth whose structure has been compromised. It can also be affixed to the post of a dental implant to complete the implant process.

What to expect getting a Crown or Bridge?

Two appointments are needed to have a crown or bridge. At your first visit, we’ll take measurements to custom-create your crown or bridge. A temporary restoration is then provided for you to wear in the meantime.

Your new crown or bridge is then fabricated. This takes 1-2 weeks. Once they have been fabricated, we have you come back in to see our friendly team and we will have them fitted for you!

Can I Benefit From a Dental Bridge?

Missing teeth can make you feel self-conscious when you smile or speak to others. A bridge can replace your teeth and allow you to enjoy the full function and appearance of your smile. It involves a row of crowns that are attached. The crowns on each end are anchored to the teeth that neighbour the gap where your teeth are missing. The middle crowns are then suspended into the open space.

A bridge is an affordable tooth replacement option that is permanently fixed in place. You won’t have to worry about removing it, though you will be instructed on how to clean it to maintain the health of your bridge.
