What Veneers Can Correct

Illustration of dental veneerVeneers are a fantastic option to mask a broad range of imperfections. There are two types of veneers: composite and porcelain. If you choose porcelain, they look similar to a fake fingernail and are put on to the surface of existing teeth. Composite is applied by being painted on, layer by layer.

Dental veneers can address teeth that are:

  • Misshapen
  • Discoloured
  • Chipped
  • Gapped
  • Misaligned
  • Worn down

Composite Veneers

Our composite veneers involve what is referred to as direct bonding. It’ll give you instant results in just a single visit to our practice. After you’ve decided on composite veneers, we’ll get started by preparing your teeth to receive the veneers. Then, we paint the composite material onto your teeth, layer by layer.

When completed, we’ll shape and polish your veneers to a gorgeous finish. Our patients feel that they get great results from this option, and it is more affordable than porcelain veneers.

Porcelain Veneers

Our porcelain veneers are created from a strong material called e.max. They’re remarkably thin, which means that less of your existing tooth surface has to be removed to apply the veneers.

Two appointments are needed to have porcelain veneers, as they’ll be custom-created for you in our local laboratory. You’ll come in, have measurements and other information gathered, and then our lab technicians will create your veneers. When we receive them, you’ll return to have your veneers cemented on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I a candidate for veneers?

Most people can receive veneers. If your goal is to change the way the front of your teeth looks, they’ll likely work for you. If you grind your teeth, however, we won’t recommend them, as the veneers will probably be quickly destroyed by the grinding.

What is the process for getting veneers?

Composite veneers are completed in one appointment. Porcelain veneers are done over two appointments, with the first involving gathering information. Our laboratory then makes your veneers, and you can return to have them cemented after they’ve been custom-created for you.

How can I make sure that my veneers are long-lasting?

There are a few tips to make sure that your veneers last. First, treat them as you would your regular teeth. Though they’re resistant to stains, decay can still occur on the natural tooth, and gum disease will set in if you don’t brush and floss regularly. Furthermore, you should refrain from chewing on hard substances such as ice or opening packaging with your teeth.
